About us

Harmony Foundation is a human rights, advocacy and development organization struggling for an equitable world for all marginalized segments of the society. The Harmony Foundation since its inception in 2001 has the distinction of undertaking a holistic approach for development. It is operational and liaison office is based in Faisalabad (an industrial & textile city of Pakistan) and active community based development interventions in most backward and neglected areas like Hasil Pur a Desert town of formerly Bahawalpur State, Toba Tek Singh a backward District of Punjab Province and Faisalabad itself. The Harmony Foundation has greater conviction and commitment of community participation and striving for the alternative but sustainable developmental paradigm for disadvantages and neglected communities. Harmony Foundation has laid down its focus on sharing/ exploring local knowledge and skills, creating sustainable opportunities and solutions for mainstreaming the marginalized communities.
Harmony Foundation encourages local communities at the grass root level to take their own initiatives for an integrated social, economic, political and environmental development and participate with them through strategic interventions for the sustenance of their well being. HF transfers Information, equips with Skills and creates Opportunities for the target group enabling the building of their own solutions to development challenges.

Mission

Harmony Foundation has the strong commitment of promoting and preserving the diverse cultural heritage/ knowledge while empowering the local communities through alternate participatory development approaches.

Objectives

  • Involve local communities in the classification of developmental concerns of a particular area and document these concerns through research and surveys.
    • Enhance & strengthen the local capabilities through capacity building and management.
    • Mobilize & organize the local communities for the struggle of the acquisition of their fundamental social and economic rights.
    • Formulate the locally suitable comprehensive and sustainable solutions for food security, health and shelter.
    • Strengthen & enhance the livelihood pattern of the marginalized segments through environment friendly alternatives.
    • Promote gender sensitivity and women empowerment and protect the reproductive rights of the women.

    • Promote the culture of peace and diversity through counseling and media initiatives.

Focus Groups

Women, Children, workers, religious & cultural minorities and people with permanent or curable physical disabilities who are living in the extreme conditions of neglect and poverty.

Program strategy:

Harmony Foundation would achieve these objectives/goals through an effective collaboration and networking of all stakeholders. It would specifically focus on research, documentation advocacy and lobbying of the impediments effecting the development interventions and well-being of targeted communities.
